The Northern Illinois Workforce Alliance and the City of Rockford have received a $1.2 million grant to provide manufacturing training to local residents.

The Accelerated Training for Illinois Manufacturing (ATIM) grant from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity will cover Winnebago, Boone, Stephenson, and DeKalb counties. Classroom and lab-based as well as work-based training will be provided to 133 participants.

The grant will provide training for areas like mechanical engineering, electrical and electronics repairs, industrial machinery, welding, and more. The goal is to help create qualified employees for local companies.
