ROCKFORD (WREX) -

UPDATE:

Police release the name of the 54-year-old man killed in a Rockford construction zone.

Clinton Siens, from Raritan, IL, was discovered lying at the side of the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.  The Winnebago County Coroner's office plans an autopsy.

Initial investigation shows Siens was working alongside the road, installing fiber optic cable in a marked construction zone around noon Wednesday, when a red minivan with a partial registration of S40 going eastbound on Sandy Hollow hit him as he stood in the curb area of the lane. The van then continued on, turning north on South Alpine and running a red light.

Anyone with any information on the van is encouraged to call Rockford police at 815-987-5824 or CrimeStoppers at 815-963-7867.
