Nearly 43,400 students are enrolled at the University of Illinois' Urbana campus this fall, the most in the school's history.
This year's freshman class, the second-largest the school has seen, helped boost the numbers. As of Tuesday, around 7,330 freshmen were enrolled, up 5.7 percent from last year. The largest freshman class was enrolled in 2005 with nearly 7,600 students.
The university currently has around 32,300 undergraduate students and the rest are graduate or professional students.
Three-quarters of the school's undergraduates are from Illinois and an additional 15 percent are international students.
