UPDATE: Bicyclist killed in Tuesday crash named

The Winnebago County Coroner's Office has named the victim as 52-year-old David Rose Sr. An autopsy showed he died of blunt force trauma to the head, chest, and abdominal region.

The death is still under investigation.


The bicyclist, a 52-year-old man, has succumbed to his injuries. The man died at 11:11 p.m. Tuesday evening at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center.

The man was riding his back north on 11th Street and was hit behind by the truck just north of the street's intersection with Samuelson Road.

The death is currently under investigation and an autopsy is pending.


Tonight around 10:00 p.m. the Winnebago County Sheriff's Department responded to a truck versus bike accident at 11th Street and Samuelson.

A man was riding the bike and was transported to OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center for life threatening injuries. The truck driver had no injuries. We will bring your more information on this story once it becomes available.
