Winnebago County gets grant for domestic violence courts

ROCKFORD (WREX) — Winnebago County has received a $300,000 grant to expand and improve the Domestic Violence Coordinated Courts (DVCC).

The grant is from the Department of Justice's Office on Violence Against Women's Court Training and Improvements Program. The money will be used to provide training focusing on intimate partner sexual assault cases, domestic violence-related parentage cases, domestic violence-related custody and visitation issues.

Additional on-site advocacy services for victims and more access to the court system will also be added. Thanks to the grant, the DVCC will be supported through September 2015.
