Rockford man arrested for criminal trespass, running from cops

A 40-year-old Rockford man was taken into custody during the early hours of Monday morning after he was spotted by police doing patrols in the 1200 block of Harlem Boulevard.

Officers with the Rockford Police Department's M-3 Street Team say they were patrolling the area due to a recent increase in burglary activity when they found Arthur Contreras Jr. Police say they tried to arrest Contreras for Criminal Trespass, but ran away.

After a brief chase, Contreras was taken into custody and charged with Criminal Trespass and Resisting/Obstructing a Police Officer. He is currently on parole for Aggravated Battery.
