Former Rockford golf course could see zip lining

Posted: Updated:

The Rockford Park District talks about what it's going to do with a former golf course.

In Spring 2011, the Hansberger family donated Alpine Hills to the district.  Earlier this year, during a public meeting, people asked about the possibility of creating a zip line.

At Tuesday night's board meeting park board members directed staff to work with an outside vendor to design, build, and operate the zip-lining.

That's just part of what's planned for what would be called Alpine Hills Adventure Park & Golf Center, including a 5 hole golf course and maybe a toboggan chute for the winter.  The first phase of that construction is underway.
