With Capitol Hill abuzz with talks of sequester and budget cuts, some senior citizens could be left wondering if Social Security is on the chopping block.
Seventeenth District Congresswoman Cheri Bustos visited Rockford Friday to host a roundtable discussion with local seniors on the issues facing them. During the session at the Booker Washington Community Center, Bustos said there are better ways to keep Social Security and Medicaid stable, like implementing reforms that would help lower costs and eliminate abuse.
Bustos joined over 100 other Representatives in sending a letter to President Barack Obama asking him to reject any proposals that would cut benefits.
