The senior Senator for Illinois is weighing in on the conflict in Syria.
Senator Dick Durbin said based on his recent meetings with President Barack Obama, there is "compelling" evidence the Syrian government is using chemical weapons against its own people. However, the Democrat also explained he has not been informed on what the President will do next.
"If it's anything beyond a short-term response, yes, Congress should be involved in it," Durbin said. "I am against boots on the ground. I'm against engaging in another war. Whatever we do has to be carefully measured so we don't drag ourselves in a war."
