Bears Cut Webb, Others

CHICAGO (AP) -

The Chicago Bears have parted ways with offensive lineman J'Marcus Webb, ending a three-year run in which his performance never measured up to his talent.

Webb confirmed Friday on Twitter that he is no longer on the Bears, saying goodbye to Chicago and posting it will "be good to have a fresh start."

A seventh-round draft pick out of West Texas A&M in 2010, the Bears believed Webb had all the physical tools to succeed at 6-foot-7 and 333 pounds. He started 44 games over three seasons -- 12 at right tackle as a rookie and 16 each of the past two seasons. But he was inconsistent, missing blocking assignments, and dropped on the depth chart.

The Bears also Jordan Palmer, Trent Edwards, Armando Allen, Derek Dennis, Jerry Franklin, Brittan Golden, Bradon Hartson, Demontre Hurst, Josh Lenz, Tom Nelson, Fendi Onubun, Christian Tupou, Harvey Unga, Aston Whiteside, Josh Williams, and Edwin Williams.

Those moves bring the roster down to 58 players. The Bears have to be down to 53 players by Saturday afternoon.
