Jefferson Looks for Improvement

The Jefferson J-Hawks went 2-7 last year, but starting to come on strong at the end of last season. They hope that bodes well for this season, which opens on Friday.

"I think winning those last two football games kind of helped us out a lot," Jefferson head coach Bucky Babcock said. "We were kind of hurting a bit mentally and I think that really kind of got us by and into the system."

Babcock enters his second year as Jefferson's head coach. He hopes the J-Hawks can finish with a winning season for the first time since 1993.

"Well, obviously we have to set goals," Babcock said. "Long term and short term goals, but our main goal right now is to get us back into the playoffs."

Jefferson kicks off its season Friday night at Guilford.
