ISP releases result of latest safety checkpoint

The Illinois State Police announced the results of two Roadside Safety Checks held this past weekend.  The details were conducted in Winnebago County by ISP District 16 Troopers and officers from the Rockford Police Department.

Alcohol is involved in nearly 40 percent of fatal crashes in Illinois.  RSCs are designed to remove alcohol-impaired drivers, however, when other violations are observed such as driving with a suspended or revoked license, operating a vehicle without a valid registration or insurance, or safety belt violations, enforcement action may be taken.  The following citations were issued at the safety check:

Registration offenses

Driver's license offenses

Occupant restraint offenses

Driving under the influence arrests

Other alcohol/drug arrests

Total citations/arrests

Total written warnings
