North Boone Aims for Repeat Conference Title

Coming off their first ever Big Northern East conference championship, the North Boone Vikings are hoping for similar success on the football field in 2013.

Despite the graduation of star quarterback Austin Baden, a WREX Athlete of the Week, this year's senior Vikings believe the pieces are in place for a repeat run at the title.

"We've been looking pretty aggressive. We're young, but we're playing smart and aggressive," said senior tackle/linebacker Wes Timpe. "And we're just having fun and learning to play confident in ourselves and our abilities."

"We're excited, especially after our conference championship last year," said senior wide receiver Jon Lilly. "I feel like we're going after it again. This time we want to go deeper into the playoffs and we're ready to go."

Lilly is referring to North Boone's early exit from the Class 3A playoffs last year, when the Vikings were defeated by Immaculate Conception, 59-34. Their road to a repeat conference title and a return to the playoffs begins this Friday, as the Vikings face Clinton (WI) on the road.
