Aviators Lose Error-Filled Game

Evansville, Ind. -

The Rockford Aviators, presented by Pearson, committed three errors Thursday night that allowed the Evansville Otters to take advantage and win 10-4. Seven of the 10 Evansville runs came unearned.  

Rockford led 2-0 after 4 1/2 innings.
Evansville got three unearned runs in the bottom of the fifth to go up 3-2.
The Aviators tied the game at three in the top of the sixth as Tyler Smith scored Michael Hur on a sacrifice fly.
The Otters scored twice in the bottom of the sixth on back-to-back bases-loaded walks to take a 5-3 lead.
Edgar Corcino led off the seventh with a his sixth home run of the season to get the Aviators within one at 5-4 going into the stretch.
In the bottom of the eighth, after an earned run and an error that prolonged the inning on a Taylor Black grounder to short, John Schultz singled and Ryan Kresky walked to load the bases. Nick Schwanner followed with a grand slam to cap off the scoring and give Evansville a 10-4 victory.
The Aviators return home Friday to take on the Joliet Slammers beginning at 7:05 p.m. at Aviators Stadium in Loves Park. There will be a $2,000 cash giveaway sponsored by 96.7 The Eagle.
