Driver named in crash at Rockton and Overdene

The man injured in a single-vehicle crash at Rockton and Overdene on Sunday has been named.

Rockford Police responded to the intersection just before 5:00 a.m. August 18. They say a vehicle driven by 19-year-old Devonte O. Townsend was going north on Rockton when it hit the south side of a home in the 3000 block of North Rockton Avenue.

Townsend, the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, was extricated and taken to a local hospital where he is still in critical condition. The person in the home was not injured.

The incident is still under investigation and Rockford police are asking anyone with any information to contact them at 815-987-5824 or CrimeStoppers at 815-963-7867.
