Winnebago County Animal Services is hoping to reunite more lost pets with their owners by posting pictures of the animals online.
The pictures can be found at www.wcasrock.org and will include a description of the lost cat or dog. Owners of lost pets should visit the shelter in-person within 24 hours of losing their cat or dog and bring along a photo.
If a lost pet is found at the shelter, the owner must pay a reclaim fee at the time of pickup, that could include a microchip, boarding, handling, rabies vaccination, and county tag. If the pet has a current rabies vaccination and license, the owner should bring proof when reclaiming the animal. Pet owners will also have to show proof of ownership and a state-issued photo ID.
