Authorities in Dixon say they have safely detonated a pipe bomb found along the Rock River.
Deputies with the Lee County Sheriff's Office responded to a site behind Sauk Valley Community College Thursday afternoon where they found an item resembling a pipe bomb. It was made of plastic pipe with an attached fuse.
The device was safely detonated by the bomb squad and the incident is under investigation. Police say the device was far enough away that no one on Sauk Valley's campus was in danger.
