Mt. Morris man dead after Monday afternoon motorcycle crash


A 59-year-old Mt. Morris man has succumbed to injuries sustained in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash that occurred about three miles south of Byron on Route 2.

Crews responded just before 4:00 p.m. and investigation shows a 2005 Honda motorcycle driven by Mike Ball was going south on Route 2 when it lost control after passing two other vehicles. The bike left the west side of the road and went 400 feet through a ditch before Ball was ejected.

Ball was flown to OSF St. Anthony Medical Center where he succumbed to his injures at 7:01 a.m. Tuesday.

The crash is still under investigation.
