August is almost here, and it's bringing the 2013 Festa Italiana with it.
The annual festival kicks off at Boylan Catholic High School at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 2 and runs through 8:30 p.m. Sunday evening. It's hosted by the Greater Rockford Italian American Association and features traditional Italian food, games, rides, dance and music performances, and more.
The gates close at 11:00 p.m. on Friday, but are open from noon to 11:00 p.m. Saturday and noon to 8:30 p.m. Sunday. Admission is $5, children 12 and under are free when with an adult. You can get unlimited rides for $15 per day from noon to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday and noon to 8:30 p.m. on Sunday.
The festival is the city's second largest and the largest contributor to GRIAA's scholarship fund, which helps pay tuition for local parochial schools.
