Longtime Rockford musician retires

It was a bittersweet symphony Tuesday night as long time Rockford Concert Band announcer Roger Ellis had his final show.

Ellis was part of the concert band for more than 40 years. He's worn many hats including conductor, performer and of course announcer. But he hung those hats up at the finale concert at Sinnissippi Music Shell. Ellis says he'll never forget the decades of memories he made with the concert band.

"Meeting the people, the crowds that come here tonight. We've gotten so that we meet friends that show up, you make friends here," he said.

Taking Ellis's place as announcer is Dan Jensen. He is the program supervisor at WREX.
