Local lawmaker visits Rockford Rescue Mission

A Rockford-area lawmaker and his staff spent the afternoon helping those in need.

State Representative Joe Sosnowski toured the Rockford Rescue Mission Tuesday and helped serve lunch to its guests. The mission helps over 3,000 and men and women get back on their feet every year and Sosnowski hopes to take what he learned there back to Springfield.

"Part of it is just to raise awareness, part of it is just so I know what they're doing and what I can do to help and when we can do as a collective community, and then when I got down to Springfield, obviously you know what we might be able to do to help out organizations like the Rockford Rescue Mission operate throughout the state," Sosnowski said.

The mission has been open since 1964. If you'd like to volunteer, call them at 815-965-5332.
