ROCKFORD (WREX) -

The Rockford region will be overrun with players, coaches, and families this weekend with three USSSA Girls and Women's Fast Pitch World Series softball events.

Between July 23 and July 28, the 12 U Class B Fast Pitch World Series, the 18U B World Series, and the Women's World Series Tournament will take place at Sportscore One and the Harlem Sports Complex.

The tournaments are expected to bring in 70 teams with over 1,000 players, coaches, and fans. Those visitors are expected to generate about $700,000 for local businesses.

"Rockford has been a wonderful host to us over the past six years," Brenda Paulson, USSSA tournament organizer, said. "Our athletes, coaches, families and fans have wonderful experiences both on and off the field of play, which is important to us as an organization. This has been a valuable partnership with the RACVB and the Rockford Park District to bring these events to the Rockford area. We're looking forward to another amazing series this year."

Local teams include Rockford's Big Dogs Invasion, Belvidere's Blasters, and Roscoe's Stateline Fury will participate. Opening ceremonies will be held Wednesday, July 24 at 6:30 p.m. at the Indoor Sports Center.

Tickets are $10 per day for adults, or $40 for a tournament pass. Students between 12 and 17 will pay $5 for a day or $20 for a tournament pass and kids 12 and under are free.
