A couple is fighting a new fee for river tubing in the area Their petition against the charge already has about 130 signatures.
Logan Garvey and his girlfriend Kristine Watts started the form because the DNR is charging people with non-powered watercraft $6 to use rivers. Garvey says it wasn't fair to implement a charge without putting it to a vote from residents.
"It started as just kind of I was angry and upset to have something that I have to pay to enjoy now It's been free for so long. So now when it took off I feel like I have a responsibility here and so we're gonna take that and run with it," he said.
Garvey isn't the only one to start a petition, another one on Change.org has more than 3,000 signatures. The DNR started the fee to make up for cuts to its budget.
