New legislation coming from Senator Dick Durbin aims at concentrating recovered guns in a national database.
The U.S. senator from Illinois thinks it will help target gun trafficking networks and solve violent crimes. Durbin says it would be one of the most powerful and basic crime-fighting tools available.
According to him, less than half of law enforcement in Illinois and a third of those in the whole country report firearms to the database.
