Illinois residents facing foreclosure due to reductions in income are being encouraged to apply for an assistance program set to expire in September.
The Illinois Hardest Hit Program will end on September 30. The program helps homeowners who have suffered a cut in income to apply for up to $35,000 to help pay their mortgage.
The program was launched by Governor Pat Quinn in 2011 and over 9,000 people have used it.
The money to fund the program comes from the U.S. Department of Treasury.
