Over 50 kids, ages 5 to 14, joined forces to do something you may not expect on a warm Saturday in the summer; play chess.
Klehm Arboretum hosted the 54th Chess Challenge Saturday, one of the largest locals only chess tournaments in the U.S.
Kids of all competing levels duked it out in hopes to be the last one the say "check mate."
The tournament was put on in efforts to challenge young learners and to offer an alternative to video games and other electronics.
