Assault weapons deadline comes and goes with little action

Little action taken on a concealed carry provision in Illinois means the mass majority of Illinois municipalities won't have restrictions on assault weapons.

Only a ten-day window was open for cities and towns to ban or restrict assault weapons, that deadline was Friday.  Not many areas of the state took part.

According to the Illinois State Rifle Association, 16 municipalities passed some kind of rules for assault weapons.  All those were in the Chicago Metro area.  Those places that did not act on the opportunity will not be able to do so in the future.
