Brian Bistagne's 3-hit night lifted the Rockford Aviators, presented by
Pearson, to a 9-5 victory over the Frontier Greys on Saturday night in
front of a large crowd at Aviators Stadium. The win forces a decisive
third game in
the series, which opens the second half of the season.
Bistagne's biggest blow came in the fourth inning on his first home
run of the season, a three-run shot that hit the left field foul pole
and ricocheted back toward the infield.
Nick Anderson hurled 5.1 innings for Rockford in the win, his third
of the year. He allowed only two earned runs and struck out three
The Aviators plated two unearned runs in the first inning, a third
run in the second and three in the fourth on Bistagne's homer to take a
6-0 lead. The Greys cut the lead to 6-3 after five and a half innings,
but Rockford struck back for two runs in the
bottom of the sixth on Jeff Kremer's RBI single. They pushed the lead to
9-3 in the seventh on Edgar Corcino's RBI double. The Greys managed two
runs in the eighth off of Matt Frahm, but couldn't score any further.
Rockford will send RHP Derrick Stultz (0-2, 5.63) to the hill
against RHP Casey Delgado (0-3, 4.00) in tomorrow's rubber match. First
pitch is set for 5:05 p.m.
