Jefferson assistant principal tapped to lead Auburn

If approved by the school board, Jefferson's assistant principal of curriculum will be the new principal at Auburn High School this fall.

Devon LaRosa graduated from Guilford High School and has worked at Roosevelt Community Education Center before teaching at Jefferson where he eventually became assistance principal.

"I came from Rockford Public Schools – I started in the half-day kindergarten program and spent a year in the Creative and Performing Arts program at Auburn," LaRosa said. "I've been fortunate enough to be a teacher, an assistant principal and now principal. I've overcome odds that many of our students face – I have five brothers and sisters. Growing up, money was tight. But I worked hard and had a lot of people rooting for me. With that and a lot of perseverance, I tell my students they will also find success. I tell my students to take challenges and turn them into opportunities."

LaRosa's salary would be $109,035.
