A jury has declared a 76-year-old Wisconsin man was sane when he fatally shot his 13-year-old neighbor.
John Henry Spooner was found guilty of Darius Simmons' murder earlier this week, but a jury then had to decide whether or not he was mentally ill at the time of the shooting. Spooner believed Simmons was stealing his guns and testified he shot Simmons because he wanted "justice." No weapons were found in Simmons' home.
The defense argued Spooner did not realize shooting Simmons was wrong, but prosecutors said he was simply angry.
