Snappy Ready for Mascot Mania

BELOIT (WREX) -

Minor League Baseball has announced the start of this year's Mascot Mania tournament, as all 160 minor league mascots fight for the title of top mascot. This will give Snappy D. Turtle a shot at redemption after making it all the way to the final four last year before falling to eventual champion Orbit of the Albuquerque Isotopes.

This year, Snappy will be relying on everyone in the Shell Nation as he looks to go all the way. In Round One, Snappy will be competing with all the mascots from the Midwest League for the chance to advance. The voting for the first round of Mascot Mania lasts from noon on Thursday, July 18th until noon on Thursday, August 1st. In round two, the winners of each league will compete against each other in a bracket that will decide the overall championship. The second round will begin on August 1st at 2:00pm.

Fans can vote for Snappy in two ways. The first way is by visiting www.milb.com/mascotmania. Fans can vote an unlimited number of times through the online ballot. The online ballot is also how you can enter the Mascot Mania sweepstakes, giving every voter the chance to win prizes such as MLB.TV subscriptions, MLB.com and MiLB.com gift cards and much more. You can also vote on Twitter by tweeting at Snappy's Twitter account, @SnappyCR4Snappers or the Snappers account, @BeloitSnappers and including #mascotmania. Retweets will also be counted as votes. Twitter accounts are limited to 25 votes per day per account.

Snappy was born on June 1, 1995 and fell in love with baseball the first time he laid eyes on it. He quickly became very active with the Snappers and is now in his 18th season with the team. Snappy's favorite part about working for the Snappers is all of the great fans that come out to watch his team. Now Snappy is asking for the support of all those fans as he looks to grab the championship belt!
