Rockford ZBA approves Meijer zoning changes

Posted: Updated:
ROCKFORD (WREX) -

Rockford's Zoning Board of Appeals recommends changing a piece of property's zoning rules for some major development.

Discount retailer, Meijer, wants to put up a store near the corner of Perryville and Rote roads.

Neighbors aren't happy. They knew the property, right behind their homes, was zoned for commercial use, but it's categorized as a C-1 or C-2.  This Meijer project needs C-3 classification.

The zoning board okayed that change with some restrictions.  The Rockford City Council can decide whether to act on that recommendation or not.
