North Main roundabout workers suffering in latest heat wave

ROCKFORD (WREX) -

For those who work outside, the heavy heat and humidity the region has seen over the last few days can be brutal.

Not only do construction workers toil in extremely warm conditions, they are also frequently around hot machinery and in direct sunlight. Workers at the roundabout on North Main and Auburn say keeping cool and hydrated are top priorities and being prepared is key.

"Lots of water, just keep hydrated," one worker explained. "Keep an eye on each other, no one's passed out, just drink water."

Workers make sure to apply sunscreen high in SPF and start work early in the day in an attempt to beat the heat as much as possible.
