Governor Pat Quinn has signed a bill to require state agencies to cooperate in order to make employment for people with disabilities a priority.
The Employment First Act, or House Bill 2591, would put the Employment and Economic Opportunity for Persons with Disabilities Task Force (EEOPWD) in charge of monitoring state agencies' success in making employment for disabled persons the top priority.
Under the law, all state agencies will have to share data and information with each other and make sure all policies, procedures, and practices match the task force's goals.
The law goes into effect immediately.
