Sex offender escapes East St. Louis halfway house


EAST ST. LOUIS (WREX) — Police are searching for a convicted sex offender they say escaped an East St. Louis halfway house.

Forty-year-old Frederick Buettner was convicted of felony predatory criminal sexual assault in Madison County nine years ago and was paroled in May. He is described as 5'11" tall with blonde or strawberry-blonde hair. He also has a tattoo of a tiger head on his back.

Anyone with information on Buettner's whereabouts should contact police.
