Man sentenced to 10 years for not reporting fatal crash

A 26-year-old man has been sentenced to ten years in prison for Failure to Report an Accident Involving Death after Leaving the Scene of an Accident and Driving After Revocation.

Amjed Alsadun pled guilty to the charges in Winnebago County Court. He was arrested after an off-duty Rockford police officer came across a motorcycle and male victim laying in the intersection of South Main Street and Marchesano just after 1:30 a.m. on September 9, 2012. The victim, Brent Busby, was pronounced dead of injuries sustained in a hit and run crash at a local hospital.

Investigators identified the make and model of the car involved in the crash and traced it back to Alsadun, who admitted to driving the vehicle at the time of the crash and not reporting it.
