UPDATE: Rockford man faces rape and murder charges of elderly woman

ROCKFORD (WREX) -

Rockford police say a senior citizen was beaten and raped by a Rockford man. They charged Reed Catalano, 43, with Elizabeth Kinkade's murder. She was found dead Monday and police say the man accused in her death has been in the Winnebago County Jail since that night.

Catalano had been arrested on a probation violation earlier this week. Rockford Police say he lived with the 75-year-old at her home at 1110 South Sixth Street. But he was not related to her.

Catalano faces 10 counts of first degree murder,  plus aggravated domestic battery and criminal sexual assault charges. The coroner say the elderly woman died from a beating and had bruises covering her body. Catalano was on probation for a previous domestic battery charge. He had been convicted of hurting Kinkade before back in 2011.
