The City of Dixon is looking to raise funds to honor one of its most famous residents.
Local residents want to raise around $120,000 for a seven-foot bronze statue of former President Ronald Reagan during his lifeguard days. The Dixon native served as a lifeguard in Lowell Park and is credited with saving over 70 people from the Rock River.
Dixon Mayor Jim Burke is leading the effort, and hopes to collect donations to fund it.
