Aviators Fall to Boomers

Trevor Harden hurled six splendid innings and allowed only one run, but the Aviators bullpen couldn't keep the game close in a 7-5 loss to the Schaumburg Boomers. Schaumburg took the series, two games to one, with the victory.

Kenny Bryant drove home the game's first run with an RBI ground out in the second inning, but the Boomers tied it up on Gerard Hall's sacrifice fly in the top of the third inning.
Neither team would budge offensively until the seventh, as Schaumburg's Mike Giovenco and Harden matched each other pitch for pitch. The Boomers plated three meaningful runs in the top of the seventh off of Jake Nicholson, when Steve McQuail singled up the middle and McConkey drove home an additional run.
After three more runs scored in the top of the ninth, Bryant blasted a 2-run homer into the Budweiser Party Porch for good measure as the Aviators fell, 7-5. Rockford wrapped up the home portion of the schedule in the first half of the season with a mark of 11-18. The Aviators open a weekend series in Joliet on Friday night at 7:05 p.m. before next week's All-Star break.
