Car hits Rockford City Hall

Posted: Updated:

A car slammed into Rockford City Hall Thursday morning following a crash.

Two vehicles were involved in the crash that sent a Ford SUV slamming into the side of the downtown building. The other car was left in the intersection of East State and Second Street. Witnesses say three people were seen being taken from the scene in an ambulance.

Building inspectors were on the scene to assess any structural damage.

A portion of East State Street going eastbound between Second and Third Streets is temporarily closed, but City Hall appears to be operating as usual.
