Aviators Knock Off Boomers

In a game dominated by Rockford's starting pitcher Nick Anderson through the first six innings, it was Jeff Kremer's 2-run double in the bottom of the eighth that put the Aviators ahead for good in one of the most exciting wins of the season. Rockford beat Schauburg 7-5 to pull even in the three game series and force the rubber match on Thursday night.

Nick Anderson hurled his best start of 2013, allowing only one unearned run on five base hits over six frames. He did not earn a decisioin, however, because the bullpen faltered and allowed the Boomers to take a 5-4 lead in the top of the eighth.
Kremer's double with two outs in the ninth, part of his four-hit night, pushed Rockford ahead for good. Nick Cicio came on to pick up his tenth save of the season and Brandon Newton tied the Aviators 2013 record with a 9-game hitting streak.
Rockford's final home game before the All-Star break takes place on Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. The Aviators seek to take their fourth of the last five series, with Trevor Harden slated to throw against Schaumburg's Mike Giovenco.
