Talcott-Page Memorial Park to get update

The Rockford Park District Board of Commissioners voted this week in favor of almost $93,000 of improvements to Talcott-Page Memorial Park.

The playground was last renovated in 1997 and was due for another upgrade in 2012. However, the playground's main structure was burned and seriously vandalized in March of that year. The damaged structures had to be removed to eliminate hazards.

The park district worked with the Greater Rockford Baseball League, the park's main user, to develop the park's revamp, which will have a baseball theme. Improvements will include:

  • Structures for children between the ages of two and five
  • Structures for children between the ages of five and 12
  • New swings
  • New independent play features
  • New concrete access walks
  • New seating areas
  • New accessible parking areas
  • Paved spectator areas

Larson and Larson Builders will carry out the project.
