The Winnebago County Coroner's Office has identified the two men killed in the 600 block of Woodlawn Avenue Tuesday night.
Seventeen-year-old Daemoan Patterson and 33-year-old Charles Groom were both pronounced dead in the emergency room at Rockford Memorial Hospital. Autopsies are scheduled for Wednesday.
A total of four men were shot just before 8:30 p.m. The other two men suffered from gunshot wounds to the arm and leg and a graze wound, respectively.
Helen McCracken has lived at her home just down the street from the shooting for nearly two decades. She claims she was with Patterson as he was dying.
Although it happened so close to her home, McCracken says she not afraid of the crime but wants answers as to why it happened. She heard a dispute took place over personal property and that led to the shooting.
The incident is still under investigation by Rockford Police and they're looking for a black male in his teens. Anyone with any information on the incident is encouraged to call Rockford Police at 815-987-5824 or CrimeStoppers at 815-963-7867.
