Aviators Comeback Falls Short

Rockford plated three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning, but left the game tying runner stranded at third base in a series-opening loss to the Schaumburg Boomers.

Drew Rucinski fell to 3-6 on the season with the defeat after his worst outing of 2013. Rucinski, Rockford's lone All-Star, lasted a season-low five innings and allowed a season-high seven runs on 11 base hits.
The Aviators, presented by Pearson, got on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning with two unearned runs thanks to three errors on consecutive plays. Rockford scored three more times in the seventh inning, which included Jeff Kremer's first professional home run over the 16-foot wall in right-center field.
The home squad knocked home three more runs in the bottom of the last frame on Michael Hur's 2-run triple and Kenny Bryant's RBI single, but Kremer bounced out to the shortstop Gerard Hall to end the game. Hall made four errors in the ballgame.
Game two of the series is slated for Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m. It is RPS 205 Family Night at the stadium, as well as the first 1,000 fans through the gate getting Rockford Aviators Baseball Cards, presented by Metor Medical Services and Bob FM. Also, it is Meyer's Dog Days of Summer.
