A former Illinois congressman says this time, his campaign strategy to win the 17th Congressional District will do the trick.
Republican Bobby Schilling lost his seat to Democrat Cheri Bustos in last year's election. Schilling says that won't happen again if he can help it.
He announced his candidacy for the district Monday and on Tuesday explained in detail how his campaign will focus on the economy. He thinks that focus can help him earn back the position he held for one term.
"I want the middle class folks to be able to have the opportunities that were afforded to me to where if they wanna go and they want to fire up a new pizza store, start their own business, that you don't have big government in our way. Stomping on us. Keeping us from opening a new business," said Schilling.
Meanwhile Bustos's office said the congresswoman is working on issues important to the district, and isn't focusing on an election that's more than one year away.
