A Rockford man, who has dedicated decades of his life to teaching young boys music, is honored.
Joel Ross has directed Kantorei, The Singing Boys of Rockford, for 25 years. In that time, the group has gained critical acclaim throughout the U.S. and abroad. Ross says many of his students have gone on to music careers later in life. But his teachings, he says, are about more than singing.
"Almost half my life has been spent in developing young boys musically and personally, and helping them develop as young individuals and see the world in a bigger way," said Ross.
