River Jams raises money for Vietnam veterans

ROCKFORD (WREX) -

There's a party on the river in downtown Rockford raising money and awareness for Vietnam veterans.

The first ever River Jam is going on at the Verdi Club on North Madison Street. There's live music, food and even a 50/50 raffle with proceeds going to the Vietnam Veterans Honor Society.

Organizers are asking for a 10 dollar donation. The money raised is going to expand a local veterans memorial.

"So what we've decided to do was to add another wall to the LZ Peace memorial at Mid-way village to honor the guys that are dying from agent orange. Part of the money that's coming from here is going to be donated to that cause," said Paul Cassioppi with the Vietnam Veteran Honors Society.
