Families got together on Rockford's west side for a day of play with a message.
Family Field day at the Booker Washington Center had everything from bounce houses to food and prizes.
But the day had a message too - about the importance of a father's role in the family.
"We're actually trying to help children and their fathers reengage. Obviously there's a lot of children that may not necessarily live with their father in the home and we know that. When that happens there's, you know, lower test scores, more childhood obesity among other things, so we're really trying to help fathers that want to be apart of their children's live to really reengage," said organizer T. C. Bell.
If you're interested Project Fatherhood is looking for volunteers. They're hoping to have more events in the future.
