ROCKFORD (WREX) -

Rockford's Discovery Center Museum takes fireworks to another level.

Organizers call their annual event Kaboom.  Families visited the museum to learn about how to make explosions - safely -  and launch rockets among other things. The kids also got a lesson in patriotic art and snowcones.

"We're learning why things blow up. We're dong amazing arts and crafts. Today kids are learning about spatial orientation," says Discovery Center Director of Education, Corinne Sosso.

In case you missed it, the Discovery Center will hold the event again Friday between 11a.m. and  3:30 p.m.
