LOVES PARK (WREX) -

The Evansville Otters hit two home runs, including a Grand Slam by Ryan Kresky, on their way to defeating the Rockford Aviators, presented by Pearson, by a final score of 10-5.

Evansville (22-18) wasted no time in taking the lead to start the game. Frank Martinez hit a three-run home run in the top of the first to put Evansville on the scoreboard. It was Martinez's first home run of the season.

Rockford (11-29) picked up a run in the bottom of the fourth off of an Edgar Corcino solo home run to right field to cut the Otters' lead to 3-1.

The Otters tacked on two more in the fifth, thanks to a two-RBI double by Nick Schwaner. Evansville led 5-1.

Rockford cut the Evansville lead to 5-3 by adding a couple of runs in the bottom half of the fifth. Jeff Kremer hit an RBI triple to plate Aritz Garcia, who was on base thanks to his first professional hit. Two batters later Brandon Newton grounded out to score Kremer.

After adding a run in the seventh, thanks to an RBI double from C.J. Henry, Evansville got a Grand Slam from Ryan Kresky in the eighth to blow the game open and give the Otters a 10-3 lead.

Rockford got two back in the bottom of the eighth when Michael Hur doubled to bring home Corcino and Matt Greener to make it 10-5, the eventual final score.

Evansville starter Bryce Morrow went seven innings, gave up three runs on six hits, waked one and struck out six on his way to his sixth win of the season.

Rockford starter Nick Anderson took the loss. The righty went five innings and allowed five runs on five hits, walked two and struck out seven. Anderson is now 2-4 on the year.

The finale of the three-game series begins at 1:05 p.m. when Drew Rucinski takes the mound on Backyard Grill & Bar $1 Beer Day. There will also be select $1 concession items.
